VCE Philosophy
Introduction to Community of Inquiry

Sunday 13th December 2009    9:30am – 3:30pm
Banksia House
Dandenong High School,
Princes Highway (cnr James St.),
Dandenong

  1. This workshop will introduce you to strategies for building your class as a philosophical community of inquiry following on from the VCE Philosophy course at La Trobe. The focus is on pedagogy and we will rely on you having a degree of familiarity with the set topics and texts. This is an opportunity for you to participate in a dialogue using the concepts of philosophy, to develop the thinking skills required to achieve better results, deeper understandings in the content material and to learn how to facilitate collaborative inquiry. Importantly the day is an opportunity to participate as a member of a learning community that will inquire into and make meaning of the aspects of the VCE Philosophy course.

VCE Philosophy Support Program 2009

VCE Philosophy Support Program / Intensive Program  / Registration Form / Enquiries

VCE Philosophy Support Program
The La Trobe University Philosophy Program is excited to announce that it will once again be offering VCE Teachers an opportunity to attend a VCE Philosophy Support Program this December. The program is able to provide support in both the academic content of the VCE units and in pedagogic matters. We think that this is of particular importance, not just because as a teacher you will rightly be concerned for both aspects of your practice, but because the two are so closely intertwined in classroom philosophy.

Intensive Program
The intensive four day program will be split into two streams – Year 11 and Year 12 units. We are also conducting two half day courses on Reason and Argument and Writing Essays in Philosophy for those who cannot attend the four day intensive program.

Where: Bundoora Campus, La Trobe University.

Times:

  • The Four Day Intensive Program begins on Tuesday 8th through to Friday 11th December.
  • The Reason and Argument half day short course will run from 10am – 1pm Friday 11th December, while the Writing Essays in Philosophy half day short course will run from 2pm – 4pm Friday 11th December.

Cost: The Four Day Intensive Program (including Reason and Argument and Writing Essays in Philosophy short courses) is $450 per person. The half day short course is $100 per session.
